Message from Linda Gilbert
Well, after sitting on the plane for 4 hours...we were to leave Madrid at 10am this morning but flight was first delayed for 2 hours. then we boarded at 12:30 and sat on the runway for 4 hours only to have the Madrid airport close because of volcanic ash. During the 4 hours, they were good to keep telling us that the situation was that they were trying to find other air space. But didn't work and everything closed. Once we found out and then got our suitcases from baggage, we were able to get a shuttle to Barajas and get into the same hotel where we stayed last night...close to the airport.
We hope this situation doesn't last very long - we can call at 7am to find out if flights will resume and airport will be open. The problem is that those w/flights scheduled for tomorrow or whichever day flights resume will get priority. So looks like a bit of a mess. The volcano rules!!
John suggested ocean travel may be returning as reliable transportation.

Michael on Vermont...
We are all very fortunate to live where we do. Vermont had an attraction that is sort of difficult to explain. His home in Texas was an area of segregation. He found and felt Vermont was a place where this condition did not exist, however within two weeks of moving here there was an incident in Southern Vermont that showed segregation problems exist everywhere. He questions himself as to whether he should have stayed in Texas and helped with that problem. Since then Vermont’s population has become more diverse and he is proud of the way our state has handled this change.
He thinks Vermont faces challenges in the future with changing economic times and changing cultural conditions.
He is an attorney who is concerned about the future of the justice system. He is a citizen of Vermont who is concerned about how we maintain in increasingly difficult economic times the independence and generosity that Vermont offer him when he moved here.
Mike is trying to move his practice from litigation to an office practice. He looks forward to do more contract negotiation. He is now doing more legal consultation work. People come to looking for help.
Our club needs more Classification Talks in the future. Look for a call from Adam or Michael.
