Special Guest
Elaine Dates with Clinton Reichard
Special Guest Clint Reichard, a former District Governor with a long and colorful history in Rotary, beginning with membership in Rotary in Pennsylvania in 1961, moving to Vermont to pursue his veterinary medical career, and founding the Colchester Rotary Club in 1973. He has been active on many district committees and came to our meeting to introduce the major changes that are happening in the Rotary Foundation.
He explained that the foundation, founded in 1917 to do global projects, had grown to manage billions of dollars, had as many as 28 programs and had become burdensome and confusing. In an effort to make the work of the Foundation viable for another 100 years, the process has been simplified; it will focus on projects relevant to Rotary, will meet global and local needs, and will encourage ownership by districts and clubs by transferring responsibility to the districts. It is hoped that the changes will enhance public awareness of the Rotary Foundation’s work.
