Trinity Episcopal Church Community Room
Welcome
Pledge of Allegiance
Devotional – Steve Dates
President Steve Dates opened the meeting with a welcome to guests: Ron Cline (past AG); Frank and Mary Mazur.
Rotary Foundation Thought
Steve shared a Rotary Foundation Thought – Sponsoring Ambassadorial Scholars. As a Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholar, Alissa Nicole Creamer got a close-up look at how people recover from the ravages of war. While studying documentary filmmaking in Spain, she participated in a project supported by 60 Spanish Rotary clubs to fund rehabilitation of child victims of land mine explosions. Nearly every day for three months, Creamer visited with two Angolan children at a local hospital. She got to know their life stories and now she is telling their story to the world through a documentary film she is directing.
New Funding Request
Charlie Nardozzi (NGA), speaker from last week’s meeting, requested a $200 donation for the Vermont Garden Park. Steve will pass this request to the finance committee.

Presentation

Jeff Crowe & Terrell Titus
Steve Dates introduced the speaker, Jeff Crowe. Jeff has been the Chairman of the Board for Landstar since 1991. Landstar is one of the largest ‘non-asset’ based transportation providers in the U.S. (in ’06 revenues of $2.5 billion). It was also named one of “America’s Best Big Companies” by Forbes magazine for four consecutive years. Jeff has slowly stepped down from the COB over the last five years.
Jeff has also been the Chair of the National Defense Transportation Associate from 1993 to 2003 and member of the National Chamber of Commerce since 1998 and chair for two of years.
Jeff discussed ‘transportation’, infrastructure, and defense transportation – followed by questions from the club members.
What brought Jeff (from a rural PA upbringing) to Vermont? His wife is a native Vermonter from Barre. Time to move back to Vermont! Construction is being completed on their new house in Shelburne….which will soon be the home for Jeff, his wife, their daughter and her two young daughters, ages six and three.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30am by Terrell.
